Have a read through the following list of common causes of lower back pain and consider whether one (or some) of these issues may be causing your lower back pain:
- Back muscle strains: Muscle fatigue, poor muscle strength or excessive loads can all lead to lower back muscle strains.
- Ligament sprains: Pulling ligaments too far or suddenly will tear them and result in swelling and pain. Poor form when lifting, sporting injuries, and car accidents are common causes.
- Bad posture: Poor posture when sitting, walking or lifting things can have a damaging effect on your lower back and result in ongoing and increasing pain over time.
- Bulging discs: A disc bulge can “slip” and end up pressing against a nerve in the spine. This can cause back pain, spasms, cramping, numbness, pins and needles, or pain in your legs.
