Physio Ivanhoe: getting here, what we treat & common questions

Rosanna Physio is on Bellevue Avenue in Rosanna, a short run north-east of Ivanhoe and still inside the City of Banyule, so you are not travelling far to be seen.

Getting here from Ivanhoe

  • By car: about 10 minutes via Upper Heidelberg Road through Heidelberg.
  • Parking: the clinic sits directly opposite a 120-space car park, so you are not hunting for a spot on the street.
  • By train: three stops on the Hurstbridge line, Ivanhoe to Eaglemont to Heidelberg to Rosanna, then a short walk to Bellevue Avenue.
  • Ivanhoe (3079) and Rosanna (3084) are both City of Banyule suburbs, so you are staying local.

Physiotherapy for Ivanhoe families and students

Ivanhoe is a school suburb, and a lot of what we see reflects that. Growing bodies get sore in predictable ways: Osgood-Schlatter and heel pain in kids going through growth spurts, ankle and knee injuries from school sport and weekend club footy, and back and neck complaints from heavy school bags and long study hours. We assess, explain what is actually going on, and give a plan the family can follow at home rather than an open-ended course of appointments.

Running, riding and swimming

The Main Yarra Trail runs along Ivanhoe’s southern edge, and it brings us a steady stream of runners and cyclists. Shin splints, Achilles pain, ITB and lateral knee pain, and hip and glute tendon problems are the usual culprits, and most respond well to a proper load assessment rather than simply resting. If you are training toward an event, we can build the rehab around your program instead of stopping it. Ivanhoe Aquatic on Waterdale Road adds swimmers to the mix; shoulder pain from freestyle volume is one of the more common things we see from this postcode, and it usually traces back to how the shoulder blade moves rather than the shoulder itself.

What Ivanhoe patients see us for

Ivanhoe’s housing is part of the pattern. Many of the period homes here sit on sloping blocks with a full flight of steps between the front door and the street, and stairs are where knees, hips and post-surgical recoveries get properly tested. Alongside that we see back and neck pain from desk work, running and sporting injuries, shoulder pain, vertigo and dizziness (vestibular physiotherapy), and women’s health and pelvic floor physiotherapy. Dry needling, remedial massage and exercise physiology are all available on site.

Common questions from Ivanhoe patients

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book in with us directly. A referral is only needed if you are claiming through Medicare on a GP care plan, or through WorkCover or the TAC.

Do you treat children and teenagers?
Yes. We see a lot of school-age patients for growth-related pain and sporting injuries, and we are happy to talk to a coach or school about return-to-sport timelines.

Can I claim my private health on the spot?
Yes. We have HICAPS on site, so your rebate comes off immediately and you only pay the gap.

How quickly can I be seen?
We keep same-day and next-day appointments available. From Ivanhoe the drive is about ten minutes, so if you call in the morning we can usually fit you in that afternoon.

Call our reception on (03) 9457 2336 or book online, and we will get you moving again.
